Black Mountain

Black Mountain, founded in 1893, is a very cute town of around 8,000 located just 17 miles east of downtown Asheville. Home to B&B’s, eclectic shops, quality dining and a thriving arts scene,

Black Mountain has grown in popularity among those moving to the region. Areas of interest include nearby Montreat Conference Center, Montreat College, Warren Wilson College, and Camp Rockmont (former home of the Eden Lake Campus of historic Black Mountain College). Smaller Swannanoa is situated between Black Mountain and Asheville. Warren Wilson College is located just to the west in Swannanoa.

Popular Neighborhoods

Lake Tomahawk/Methodist Colony – Very popular in-town neighborhood centered around Lake Tomahawk. This area is full of bungalows and cottages and is extremely convenient to downtown Black Mountain.

Black Mountain Golf Course Area – Broad selection of home styles around a Donald Ross designed municipal golf course and very convenient to downtown Black Mountain.

Cheshire Village – Picturesque community of newer build cottages located just south of downtown Black Mountain.

Montreat – Historic community just minutes to downtown Black Mountain. Beautiful town with many homes dating to the 1910’s.

Ridgecrest – Popular community just east of downtown Black Mountain.

High Hickory – High end gated eco-friendly community in Swannanoa. Very convenient to downtown Asheville.
